- USE OF THE MOTORWAY
VEHICLES PROHIBITED FROM USING THE MOTORWAY
- Pedestrians, animals, non- motorized vehicles, rubber-wheeled tractors, machinery and cyclists are not allowed to enter the sections opened to traffic as an Access Controlled Highway.
MAXIMUM MINIMUM SPEED LIMIT
- The compulsory minimum speed is 40 km/h and the maximum speed is 140 km/h on Access Controlled Highways (Motorway).
MOTORWAY RULES TO FOLLOW
- It is prohibited fromforbidden to stop, park, reverse maneuver and drive in reverse at the sections and interchanges opened to traffic as an Access Controlled Highway. In case of mechanical breakdown of a vehicle, it can be stopped for a short period in the rightmost emergency lane (shoulder).
TAMPERING WITH WIRE FENCE OR WALLS
- It is prohibited from entering and exiting a motorway other than the designated areas (interchanges, toll stations, etc.) and certain conditions. As wire fences or walls erected along the boundary lines of the motorway to serve as a barrier against such entries and exits, it is prohibited to open, demolish, cut these barriers and destroy them in another way.
SANCTIONS TO BE IMPOSED IN CASE OF VIOLATION OF MOTORWAY RULES
- Necessary action will be taken in line with administrative fine against those violating motorway rules and cattle owners whose animals are loose on the motorway in accordance with the provisions of Law no. 6001 on the Organisation and Functions of the General Directorate of Highways and those polluting the environment on motorway in accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Law No. 2872. In addition, every motorway user has to comply with Law no. 2918 on Highway Traffic.
MOTORWAY-FACING NAMEPLATES
- Organisations wishing to install nameplates on the front of their businesses facing the motorway must obtain a permit from the General Directorate of Highways.
